Ramp Team Leader - London Gatwick Airport 
  • 5 on 3 off shift pattern 
  • Variable shifts available 
  • £18.80 per hour 
  • Full UK manual drivers licence is required 
Unifi Aviation UK is seeking a proactive and experienced Ramp Team Leader to lead and manage flights at Gatwick Airport in support of TUI Airlines. This role is responsible for leading ramp teams in the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and transport of passenger baggage, ensuring compliance with airline service level agreements (SLAs) and airport safety standards. The Ramp Team Leader will act as the operational link between ramp teams, Duty Managers, driving performance and resolving issues in real time.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Lead ramp teams in the execution of baggage loading, unloading, and transport activities for TUI flights
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with Unifi Aviation and TUI-specific procedures and safety policies
  • Monitor team performance and provide guidance to ensure timely delivery of baggage services and adherence to SLAs
  • Identify and resolve operational issues on the ramp, escalating to the Duty Manager or Operations Coordinator as needed
  • Conduct equipment inspections to ensure safe and effective use of ground service equipment (GSE)
  • Support the Duty Manager in managing shift operations, including staff deployment and task allocation
  • Maintain regular communication with the Duty Manager and Operations Coordinator to report issues and implement corrective actions
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
  • Attend all mandatory training required by Unifi Aviation 
  • Maintain a professional and impartial attitude toward all staff and stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the baggage handling operation

Key Requirements: 
  • Proven experience working in ramp operations within the aviation industry, skilled in the role of Ramp Team Leader, Headset & Pushback
  • Experience supervising teams in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Confident in challenging teams to uphold operational standards and service delivery
  • Full valid UK manual driving licence
  • Computer literate with experience using operational software and reporting tools
  • Keen eye for detail with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively
  • Familiarity with airline SLAs and their impact on operational decision-making
  • Flexible to support the operation during peak periods, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to pass a criminal record check and complete all required training modules
